Exciting Ministry Opportunities for YOU to Consider
Blood Pressure Screening: We are looking for someone with a background in nursing to help with our monthly Blood Pressure Screening. You would need to be available to serve approximately once a quarter on a Sunday morning (during our 3 services). You would be offering Blood Pressure Screening to our members and guests. Please contact Pastor Lisa or Mike Landis at landis55@comcast.net for more information on this important service provided by our church and on how you can help.
Guest Follow-Up Team: Do you have a passion to reach those who are new to our church, to help them become connected? We are looking for people to make follow-up phone calls to visitors who have expressed an interest in learning more about our church. We are also hoping to add another member to our team to do data entry, someone who can stop by the church (or work from home) to input the names and contact information of visitors and members into our data base. Please contact Pastor Lisa or Donna Worcester at d_worcester@comcast.net if you are willing to help with this outreach to new comers.
Welcome Desk: Do you have the gift of hospitality? Do you enjoy greeting people, both new and familiar, on a Sunday morning? Then the Welcome Desk might be a great “fit” for you! We are looking for people to serve at the Desk for the early shift (before the 8:30 service) and the later shift (before and after the 9:45 service). Please contact Pastor Lisa or Donna Worcester at d_worcester@comcast.net to learn about this vital ministry.
Communion Set-Up and Clean-Up: Would you like to provide much needed support to the folks in our traditional service? We are looking for someone to assist with communion set-up and clean-up, which takes place on Communion Sundays, the first Sunday of each month. The preparation can be done on your own time, and the clean-up will be done following the 11 a.m. Traditional service. Please see Pastor Lisa at lstine@umcogs.org or Pastor Al if you are willing to serve in this way.
Emergency Homeless Shelter: We are looking for a person with strong administrative skills to coordinate the volunteers for the Emergency Homeless Shelter. You will be in charge of the volunteer list for the two weeks out of the year that Good Shepherd hosts the shelter. If you are willing, in addition to or as a separate ministry – this may include coordinating the weeks that we simply provide transportation. We will be hosting on January 28 – February 11, 2019. Please contact Pastor Al at asmith@umcogs.org to learn more about this ministry opportunity, and be a part of helping the homeless in our community.
Disabilities Class: Do you have a heart for adults with disabilities? Can you spare one Sunday morning a month to teach a small class of women with special needs? The class meets in the Lounge each week from 9:45-10:45 a.m., and includes a simple lesson craft, and sharing. No special background is required, just a desire to serve “the least of these”. Please contact Pastor Lisa at lstine@umcogs.org for details.
Contemporary Worship: YOU can be a part of a team that would love to include you in being a part of God’s Work in our morning worship services. Willing people can become a part of one of the teams in any number of ways – ranging from people who are willing to learn some rather basic tasks to those who are interested in learning some new skills. You may learn or be involved in PowerPoint, Lighting, Sound (get in on the ground level learning on a new digital board being installed), Camera/video, creating visuals, singing, playing with the worship team… Contact Pastor Al or Pastor Lisa, or Mary Smith (msmith@umcogs.org) to offer your interest to explore the possibilities
