We are always in need of smiling faces to help greet guests and usher them to their seats during the 9:45 Contemporary Worship. This is a great opportunity for parents while their kids are in Sunday School. There are currently 4 positions for ushering:
- Greeter: this person stands right outside the Worship Center doors to hand out bulletins. You also help direct children to the Education Wing and parents into the Worship Center. We are trying to limit the number of parents entering the Education Wing to just those dropping off the little ones in the upstairs classes or nursery. After service, stand outside the Worship Center and direct 1 parent to the Education Wing to pick up their children; direct all other guests to follow the walkway out of the church.
- “Head Usher:” While the title may seem intimidating, this position basically act like a host at a restaurant. You ask guests how many are in their party and direct them to Usher #1 or Usher #3. After service, you also release guests via “wedding style,” from the back of the church to the front, in altering rows.
- Usher #1: Seat guests in BOTH the left and left-center sections (asking guests to start filling at the far end of the row and filling toward the usher). Please ask guests to leave 3 empty seats between them and another party. Keep a mental note of any empty seats at the end of the row (i.e. a single or double party). As the Head Usher is asking for party numbers, they will try their best to send these single/double parties to the empty seats so we can ensure all available seats are filled. After service, stand in the back of the church or in the aisles to remind guests to remain seated until released by the Head Usher.
- Usher #3: Seat guests in BOTH the right and right-center sections (asking guests to start filling at the far end of the row and filling toward the usher).
We are currently not passing out the Red Friendship Pads or passing the offering baskets. Offering baskets are available at the entrance and exit of the Worship Center. This means that once all guests are seated, ushers are free to enjoy the service until dismissal at the end.
