We wanted to share some of the current happenings from our
COGS Kids Ministry
For the past 10 months, our COGS Kids have had several things going on despite a pandemic occurring around us. I wanted to take some time and share with you all what our COGS Kids have been doing and some areas where we are looking for some new people to serve.
Have you noticed our new logo?
Our Children’s Ministry now has a new logo (see the top of the email) and the the children in the ministry are known as our COGS Kids. They have t-shirts and our fantastic COGS Kids Team (leaders/teachers/helpers) all have t-shirts as well. The Kids is an acronym for our mission of
K: Know God and His Word
I: Involve in friendship and fellowship
D: Develop Spiritual Gifts
S: Serve
Nursery Help
At this present time, our nursery is not been attended by Nursery Staff. On Sunday mornings, it’s an open room, that parents can take their littlest COGS Kids to if they need to get some wiggles out during the service in the Worship Center while they stay and watch their own child. We have the service streaming on a TV in the nursery, so the parents of the littles can still see the service.
We would love to have some of our COGS members offer to serve once a month (9:30-11am) to serve in our nursery so that parents can enjoy the service from in the Worship Center. Our nursery allows 0-2 year olds to play, look at books, listen to music, dance and enjoy a small lesson and craft during the 9:45 hour. It is an important ministry at our church and we are hopeful that we can use a pool of volunteers to provide this ministry to our COGS families. If you would be willing to serve once a month in this capacity, please email Abbie Burton.
We started a Children’s Choir! Serena Heffner, who has directed our Christmas pageants the past two years agreed to start a virtual choir this past September! We have several children partaking in the experience and are enjoying it! They performed 2 Christmas pieces and now are in the midst of rehearsing for a Spring Musical, which will be shared with our our COGS congregation on Easter weekend! We are looking forward to when we can sing in person again but this certainly gives our kids an opportunity to share/refine their musical gifts!
If you missed the Christmas pieces, click HERE to view them.
Praying that it brings some joy to your hearts!
Sunday School
Our Sunday School has not missed a Sunday, since we began the pandemic! We figured out the virtual process and offered a ZOOM Sunday School option for our COGS Kids. Now that we are back in-person, the lesson is still recorded and all of our COGS Kids parents have a link to access the lessons, so they can listen from the comfort of their own homes.
For those who attend, we have been blessed with many faithful leaders who have agreed to come back in person and teach/help in our COGS Kids Sunday School classrooms. Upon returning, we are looking for a few more teachers/helpers to fill in.
If you would be interested in helping to serve, we would love to have you on our team. We have wonderful children in our ministry who love to come to Sunday School and truly enjoy learning!
Kindergarten teacher (1x a month)
First Grade teacher (2x a month)
Substitute (fill in for a teacher when we have spaces to fill)
Helpers (just a 2nd person in the classroom to help where needed)
VBS Summer 2021 – Summer Games
We are hopeful to hold a 4-day VBS this summer at COGS. We will have our first planning meeting Monday, February 22nd at 6:30pm via Zoom. Last VBS we had (2019) we had almost 100 kids attend and it was so much fun! With that, we need many hands to have a well-run event and would love to have you involved!
Please click HERE if you’d be interested in serving (behind the scenes or during the week of). I will send out the Zoom link to those of you interested on Sunday. We look forward to working with our VBS committee to provide an opportunity for our COGS Kids to celebrate and to grow in faith this summer.
