Core Values of the Church of the Good Shepherd
A commitment to Jesus Christ
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are all ministers living out our faith through servant leadership in the church community and our lives as a whole. Therefore, we are committed to lay ministry and encourage lay initiative, leadership, responsibility and authority in all ministries of the church.
A commitment to Servant Leadership
We commit to developing servant leaders who really care about people, while demonstrating authenticity, accountability and humility. These servant leaders equip others to use their gifts in the Body of Christ and become servant leaders themselves.
A commitment to Excellence
We will seek to maintain a high standard of excellence in all of our ministries. This can be achieved when every person is exercising his/her God-given spiritual gift to the best of his/her ability.
A commitment to Prayer
We are committed to prayer in order to discern God’s vision and to under gird the ministries and activities of Good Shepherd.
A commitment to Spirit
We are committed to the ministry of the Holy Spirit which leads us to creativity and innovation. In today’s rapidly changing world, forms and methods must be continuously evaluated and often changed to fit new conditions. We are willing to take chances because we are much more concerned with effectiveness in ministry than adherence to tradition or efficiency.
A commitment to Team Ministry
Healthy teams are built around the individuality of gifts, team accountability and willingness of people to work for the good of the greater body. At Good Shepherd we will organize around the team concept.
A commitment to Fellowship and Community
We believe Koinonia is the ultimate setting where most individual transformation, conversion and leadership development takes place. Therefore, we support strong, dynamic small groups and all additional educational ministries that help us grow in our faith.
A commitment to Growth
We believe that life is meant to be given away and that Christianity exists to share Jesus Christ with others. Therefore, we will focus ministry upon reaching “seekers” without regard to culture and without compromising our integrity or our commitment to Biblical truth. Our commitment to reaching others will be the motivating force in putting our personal preferences aside so that decision making is based on what supports our living out the great commission to make disciples. Beyond our own congregation, we are committed to the establishment of a new church start.
A commitment to Hospitality
Out of our oneness in Christ, we are open, accepting, welcoming and respectful of all people and diverse ideas.
A commitment to Celebration
We value both creative traditional and innovative styles of worship, realizing that we have a strong desire to be challenged to express and experience unconditional love, show compassion and to really make a difference.
