COMMUNION “KITS” FOR THOSE NOT ATTENDING DRIVE-IN CHURCH THIS WEEK
If you are needing Communion Elements for the Communion Service this Sunday (June 7th), Pastor Al will be at the church Saturday morning from 9AM – 1PM. If you need the elements because you are not attending the Drive-in Church service, are not providing your own elements, or cannot pick them up during that time, please call the church and leave a message with your phone number or e-mail Pastor Al at email@example.com and arrangements will be made for another pick-up time or for them to be delivered to your home.
DRIVE-IN CHURCH AT Church of the Good Shepherd: We have begun holding church in the parking lot at church of the Good Shepherd at 8:30AM and 10AM on Sunday mornings. It’s pretty easy – we ask that people enter from Tuck Street – across from Starbucks/Panera Bread. Greeters will give you a bulletin if you haven’t downloaded one from the e-mails or web-sites. This Sunday, if you would like to share in the communion portion of the service, you will be presented special communion cups that have a communion wafer in the top layer of the lid and then the grape juice in the cup under a second layer covering. “Ushers” will help you get parked (cars in the center section and taller vehicles in the back row.) You turn your car off but leave the radio on tuned to 88.5FM and the service is broadcast. Some people’s cars will need to be turned on and back off to get the radio to play again. We ask that people stay in their cars, wear masks when speaking with each other, smile and wave at others. 😊 If you have a prayer request during the worship service, just text them to: 717-679-8681. After the service, please exit through the exit onto Isabel Dr.
THIS SUNDAY’S BULLETIN: (just click on the following link….) Sunday Bulletin 6 7 2020
In-person gatherings for Worship Services, Sunday School, and Groups are beginning a time of transition over the next weeks and months. While there is a lightening of some of the restrictions, we are attempting to be both mindful and heartful about the exciting opportunity of returning to the worship and the ministry we have been so blessed to participate in as we also strive to determine the most loving way to proceed with a communal care for others now and in the future. Our decisions along the way will not be solely based on the recommendations of the health care professionals and guidance of community leadership, but also on the commandment to love, holding a deep concern to keep our congregation and community safe… Paul challenged the church in I Corinthians 16: “13 Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.”
WEDNESDAY 7AM Daily Office and Communion has resumed in the pavilion. We encourage those attending to sit separated from one another and wear your face mask. We will be consecrating and using the pre-packaged elements that we distribute for the services.
Looking forward: There are two teams diligently working to develop a process for us to begin to have some services in the church facility. While we will begin with everyone wearing masks, sitting separated into household groups or as individuals, no singing, etc., at least we will be able to begin the journey back. We will share the particulars as we approach our time of that next step.
While we are aware that there are some churches opening the doors completely, our leadership is engaging in a calculated and care-full process of taking the time and actions necessary that will enable people to continue to care for those of all ages who may be at risk while also providing opportunities for the spiritual growth and ministry of our congregation. You may check back here weekly to see if we are announcing any new steps as well as to receive our weekly worship services. Please check our children, youth, Celebrate Recovery and other ministry pages to find specific opportunities available.
Updates from Good Shepherd are sent via e-mail to our e-mail mailing list(s). If you have not received the following, please feel free to send your desire to receive the updates with your e-mail address to firstname.lastname@example.org.
